what if?
August 29th, 2011
Summer has sped past in a blur- a bit of a damp blur but a blur none the less. We’ve had a great summer-met some new riders and ran some really fun kids skills days as well as fixed lots of broken bikes and a few broken people! So a few trillion toasties and carrot cakes later we are looking forward to Autumn and hopefully an Indian summer.
In the next week or so we will be making a statement about our current situation at Glentress/when we intend to close for good and our plans for looking forward. We’d like to thank all the people who have shown their support for The Hub over the summer-there have been some really kind words of support and it is very much appreciated.

Ride it like you stole it…
July 4th, 2011
Just Ride
Rioting, looting and general disorder on the streets-its been a week of incredible scenes across the UK and some fellow independent bike shops in the UK Capital have suffered at the hands of mindless thievery- Micycle, Evans, and Geoffrey Butlers to name a few. Its been pretty quiet in Scotland thankfully, although rioting in the rain might not have the same appeal…
We’ve still got some dates/spaces for some kid’s skills courses for later in the holidays-click here for more details. + READ MORE

Air Maiden
June 29th, 2011
Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd July
This weekend Glentress and The Hub host the annual women’s freeride/coaching event that is Air Maiden. The Freeride Park will be closed for general users to allow the comp to go ahead but all other trails in Glentress are open as usual.
The event was the brainchild of Lynne Aitchison several years ago-Lynne was a member of The Clan cycle stunt team and full time fire fighter when she wasn’t performing backflips in her spare time. Now a resident of Whistler BC she has handed the reins over to Mags and Lesley to continue what has been an amazing event in the mountain bike calender.
This years coaches are Emma & Tracy from The Hub, and also Helen Gaskell-world cup downhill racer -now coach.
Check out last years AM on our video link and come along and see the action for yourself this weekend.

The Longest Day…
June 20th, 2011
Midsummer is pretty much upon us and its been a mixed bag of weather so far for the year -I haven’t been brave enough to pack all my winter gear away and did actually wear thermal tights last week on one of my rides and my waterproof jacket has seen more action this year than Arnie in The Terminator…but if we all waited for the weather to be fine and clear then I reckon the trails might just start growing over. + READ MORE

Get Out There
May 16th, 2011
We are halfway through May already and with a cracking start to the year weather wise (I did say start)-lots of you have been out on the trails already. I’m hearing rumours of a heat wave in a couple of weeks so keep your wheels turning- those wet trails are soon going to be dry and dusty.
Tweedlove is kicking off a summer of biking with the climax being the Tour of Britain in September and Air Maiden in between-check out our video of last years Air Maiden and get yourself entered.

Tweedlove 2011
January 6th, 2011
TWEEDLOVE 2011
TweedLove is a week-long festival of bike-riding and good times in the cycle-friendly Tweed Valley – an area with hundreds of miles of the country’s best trails, tracks and roads. So it’s not surprising that here in the valley we have a remarkable number of resident bike nuts, of both the mountain and road variety.
