Thats All (for now) Folks…
December 2nd, 2011
Thats us pretty well wrapped up at Glentress now-cafe empty but lots of good memories. Time now for some R & R and bike riding, dog walking and a bit of exploring new places. Our main gal Teeny is off to Whistler for the winter so a holiday out there is on the cards as well as a few other trips that hopefully include warm weather and biking.
As for what’s next for The Hub we have got a few projects to look at and a few ideas of our own but for now its most definately chill out time.
The website and Facebook page will remain live so any news of the next chapter for us will be on there. Our mechanic Damien will be doing his mechanic thing from our store in Peebles so if you need your bike repaired then call him direct on: 07971 673362 and I’m sure he will be more than happy to help.
Thanks again for all the support and good times-and a big thanks to the all the guys and girls that worked (and played) so hard with us over the years to make Glentress what it is now.

This is it
November 25th, 2011
So folks-this is it-our last weekend at Glentress. After 10 years of living and breathing The Hub, Glentress and mountain biking our time is nearly up. Its been quite an amazing time thanks to the people we have met and ridden with as well as some of the people we have had the priviledge to work beside. People keep asking what’s next, what are we doing? Well to start with we are going to take some time out and chill, catch up with long suffering family and friends and do some of the stuff we haven’t had the chance to because its been a full on ten years and we are ready for a rest.
Thankyou to all the people who have visited and supported us throughout the last decade-it is all of you that have made The Hub and Glentress what it is.

I aint missing you at all...
HUB GRUB
November 6th, 2011
The Hub Cafe is entering its last few weeks at Glentress, I’m trying everything on the menu one last time before we close-even square sausage which has been the staple diet for our west side visitors for many years now.
I just know that even if I make myself up a wee bowl of macaroni cheese at home or try to make carrot cake for two instead of two hunrded its just not going to taste the same without the background noise of Teeny swearing in the kitchen or Ab’s singing along to Beyonce on the front.
Then there’s you lot-frustomers-customer kind of friends. For most of us at The Hub the people that come here have become part of the social fabric of our lives. We don’t know your names, we know you as Ham Salad Roll Man, Red Hat Man, Ginger Double Dog couple…
And its just going to be plain weird not having you in our lives-so if you’re about between now and our last day (27th November)-come and give us one last little frustomer fix.
(If you are still looking for an ex-hire bike then check out our bike sale page).

The Final Countdown…40% off all remaining stock
October 27th, 2011
A massive crowd turned out for our last night ride on Wednesday evening-what a cracking ride and a top dinner. We’ve got just under a month (28days to be precise) until The Hub Cafe closes and it looks like the Gods are smiling on us with some glorious Autumnal weather to make those memories even sunnier.
The bike shop closes on Sunday (30th October) and we’ve got a massive 40% off all remaining stock including Five Ten, Endura, Shimano. We’ve also got some killer deals on some remaining bike stock. Everything must go…
If you are riding at Glentress in the next month make sure you pop in and say hello. News wise the website and Facebook sites will remain live and we’ll be updating them with any new developments-we plan to take a few months off over the winter to ride, board, and work on what’s next for The Hub.
Stay in touch and see you out on the trails.

Last Night Ride Night
October 24th, 2011
Wednesday 26th October 7pm -10pm
This Wednesday we’ve got our last ever nightride night at The Hub. Wednesday nights at The Hub cafe have been the stuff of legends-some of you will remember some of the early night rides, fancy dress nights were always classic- tandems and bar mounted fireworks…
For the last night ride Teeny’s putting on Hub stovies-a great winter warmer. Tracy and I will be heading out for a ride at 7pm and anyone is welcome-the route will depend on turnout but expect a mix of red and blue with maybe a few secret/natural trails thrown in for good measure.
Thanks to all the people that turned out on Saturday night for our party-a great night with a cool bunch of people. Good to see some old faces of customers, staff, and some of the original Hub kids club members from over the years.
We are in our last week of the Hub bike shop so we’ve got further reductions off all clothing and accessories-30% off the likes of Five Ten, POC body armour and Endura clothing.
The cafe will remain open until 27th November and we will continue to run a small hire fleet from there-you can book by calling the usual 01721 721736 number.
Cheers
Emma.
It’s goodbye from her…
October 17th, 2011
The Hub bike shop will be closing for good on Sunday 30th October and the Hub cafe on Sunday 27th November.
Next Saturday (22nd October) we will be having a ride-out at 4pm and then we’ll be lighting the BBQ at around 6pm at the cafe and we’d like to invite our friends and customers to join us in celebrating the last ten years of The Hub at Glentress.

The Final Countdown
Autumn Gold
October 6th, 2011
The month of October is upon us and the trails are littered with fallen leaves and long Autumnal shadows. Autumn is probably my favourite season for riding-not too cold and there’s something about the air at this time of year that makes each ride seem a bit more special.
Hub wise we have just started our closing down sale with 20% off all parts and accessories and clothing- including Five Ten shoes, Endura clothing, Hope and Mavic wheels. There’s also some one off deals in store. + READ MORE

August 29th, 2011
Summer has sped past in a blur- a bit of a damp blur but a blur none the less. We’ve had a great summer-met some new riders and ran some really fun kids skills days as well as fixed lots of broken bikes and a few broken people! So a few trillion toasties and carrot cakes later we are looking forward to Autumn, the leaves are definitely turning on the trees with a few daring to fall but there is still time to squeeze some daylight out of the sun and get out and ride. All the trails are open at Glentress and we are still open 7 days a week. + READ MORE

Ride it like you stole it…

Just Ride
Rioting, looting and general disorder on the streets-its been a week of incredible scenes across the UK and some fellow independent bike shops in the UK Capital have suffered at the hands of mindless thievery- Micycle, Evans, and Geoffrey Butlers to name a few. Its been pretty quiet in Scotland thankfully, although rioting in the rain might not have the same appeal…
We’ve still got some dates/spaces for some kid’s skills courses for later in the holidays-click here for more details. + READ MORE

Air Maiden
June 29th, 2011
Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd July
This weekend Glentress and The Hub host the annual women’s freeride/coaching event that is Air Maiden. The Freeride Park will be closed for general users to allow the comp to go ahead but all other trails in Glentress are open as usual.
The event was the brainchild of Lynne Aitchison several years ago-Lynne was a member of The Clan cycle stunt team and full time fire fighter when she wasn’t performing backflips in her spare time. Now a resident of Whistler BC she has handed the reins over to Mags and Lesley to continue what has been an amazing event in the mountain bike calender.
This years coaches are Emma & Tracy from The Hub, and also Helen Gaskell-world cup downhill racer -now coach.
Check out last years AM on our video link and come along and see the action for yourself this weekend.
