Once in a while, we get to build a bike that is so cool we just HAVE to share it with all you good people.
This time, it's a cracking little bike that all of us would have loved to have owned when we were ten years old.

The bike in question is an Isla Creig 26 (RRP £599-99), designed for kids who are serious about their mountain biking, aged nine and upwards.
It has a superlight aluminium frame, a Rock Shox Recon air sprung fork, Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes, Sram X5 24 speed drivetrain and oodles of attitude.

Islabikes (www.islabikes.co.uk) only make kids' bikes, and their attention to detail is amazing - the Creig has 26" wheels but a very small frame with a low bottom bracket height and short cranks to fit the nippers just right.
Up front, an integrated headset and low-rise handlebars keep the ride height low, making it easier for kids to control the bike over all those gnarly roots and rocks.

Piloting this particular little ripper is young Master Jaimie Willoughby, already an accomplished cross country racer, competing in the SXC kids series (www.sxc.org.uk).

Jamie's bike was customised with a pair of ultralight Magura Pro wheels (Dt 240 hubs on Dt 4.1 rims) and Race Face Next carbon seatpost, flat bars and stem, bringing the already impressive weight of 26 lbs down by another 1.5 lbs!

The Hub currently have four Isla Creig bikes on the hire fleet, as well as the full range of Beinn bikes (20" - 26"), so bring the nippers along and try one for £10 per day.

We wish Jaimie all the best with his racing, he's sure to knock 'em dead with this one!

I wish I was ten again.....
